With only 2 weeks to go, the IGC Turkey 2017 International Geothermal Congress, Workshop and Exhibition, regular registration ends Saturday, 13 May 2017.

IGC Turkey will take place for the second time, after a successful first event in 2016, 22-24 May 2017 in Izmir, Turkey.

This year’s IGC Turkey conference is co-hosted by the World Bank through its The Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) and will feature a special World Bank Geothermal Workshop.

The Turkish Geothermal Energy Market has seen an incredible growth over the past few years from 30 MW installed power generation capacity in 2008 to 858 MW as of March 2017. With up to 1,000 MW of additional capacity under development or planned, the market continues to be one of the hottest geothermal markets globally.

This year we are collecting the entire Turkish geothermal market under one roof. Our co-partners are JESDER – Geothermal Power Plant Investors Association of Turkey (32 Company), JKBB – Union of Municipalities of Turkey with Geothermal Resources (106 Municipality) and JEVAK – The research and Utilisation Foundation of Geothermal Energy Resources of Turkey.

Driven by increasing energy demand, favourable feed-in-tariffs, private developers have pushed forward the development of small to medium-sized geothermal power plants predominantly in the Menderes Graben in the South-West of Turkey.  With the inaugural IGC Turkey 2016 Geothermal Congress in Izmir, the event has successfully set the stage for a high level-profile gathering of Turkey’s geothermal industry and international suppliers and service providers.

The event has established itself as a meeting place for government, operators, developers, agencies and financiers to understand current market trends, explore growth opportunities, facilitate new relationships, and to promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise.

May 22, IGC Turkey 2017 will also feature a complimentary half day workshop of the World Bank and its support to geothermal development in Turkey. The workshop will provide a training session. The geothermal technical workshop will be held at the parallel session.

At Evening of 22nd of May will be an Exergy Lounge at Swissotel Secret Garden, which will a great network opportunity for the participants of IGC Turkey.

May 23, will feature an Exhibition and Conference with the following topical forums: Exploration and Risk Mitigation, Sustainability and Reservoir Management, Investment Financing, Drilling Technology, Power Plant Technology, as well as Geothermal Heat Applications. The program is being established in cooperation with the Technical Committee, giving an overview about the important issues of geothermal development in Turkey today.

May 24 will be a field trip to geothermal power plants in the Menderes region, organised by Exergy ORC, will provide a great opportunity to experience first hand the achievement of Turkey’s geothermal energy sector.
